Tiktok Baked Oats

Unlike your regular baked oats (which are basically oatmeal but baked in the oven), tiktok baked oats for oats are mixed with oatmeal and then baked in a small cake. You can mix whatever your heart desires, enjoy the heart health benefits of oats, and eat cake! If you like your oatmeal gooey, you can bake it a bit in the oven and it will taste a bit like the chewy middle of a really good oatmeal cookie. If you like the cake, you can bake it until it’s big and chewy. It is endlessly customizable and I love it because it keeps me full for a long time.

Baked oats vs baked oatmeal

To be fair, baked oats are nothing new. Baked oatmeal has been around for a very long time: instead of baking the oatmeal in a pot on the stove, oats are mixed with milk and sometimes eggs, cooked in a casserole dish for breakfast. The difference between classic baked oatmeal and Tiktok baked oatmeal is how they are prepared. The tiktok version is mixed with oatmeal, while regular baked oatmeal is baked oats.

What if I don’t want to use an egg?

If you don’t want to use an egg, you can just leave it out – I like the egg for the extra protein and the fluff it provides. If you are vegan, you can substitute a flax seed egg: 1 tbsp of flax seeds mixed with 2.5 tbsp of water, thickened for 5 minutes.

Bananas add sweetness and help texture – they also have the added benefit of making oats taste like a bit of banana bread. If you don’t have a banana, you can contain 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt with an additional sweetener.
